So the Trump presidency is getting ready to become a reality. (Weird to say that out loud.)
A couple of questions. I won’t wade in on his cabinet choices or the fact Ivanka was on hand when her dad met Shinzo Abe or what role Ivanka’s husband will play beyond the Trump whisperer. I don’t know and I won’t speculate nor will I applaud all those who will speculate because there were the same outlets who have gotten EVERYTHING wrong for the past couple of years.
But a couple of questions-
First-who will play at the Trump inauguration? Barack Obama had Aretha Franklin and Yo-Yo Ma.
There was the Kids’ Inaugural: We Are the Future” event at the Verizon Center. Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, and the Jonas Brothers honouring military families in concert. Other celebrity participants included Bow Wow, George Lopez, Corbin Bleu, Queen Latifah, Billy Ray Cyrus, Shaquille O’Neal and Jamie Foxx.
James Taylor, Kelly Clarkson and Beyonce performed at Obama’s second inauguration.
Trump had reportedly invited Vince Neil of Motley Crew but has now disinvited him so we won’t be treated to the sight of Mike Pence getting down to Dr. Feelgood.
Trump’s celebrity bench is much weaker.
LA and NYC have basically told Trump to take a jump. Even country artists aren’t on board. The way things stand, unless Chachi picks up the mic to reprise his hit What Was in that Kiss? Donald and Melania will be doing their first dance as first couple to Cat Scratch Fever.
I find it kinda funny that the people Donald used to associate with before winning the election are the same people scorning him today.
He could contact Kanye, who as you know, woulda voted for Donald if he had, ya know, voted.
Course with Kanye running in 2020, Donald may want to watch his back.
He could ask his pal Putin for advice and find out which pop stars can be had for a mill or two. There are a lot of them who don’t care where the money comes from although a paper trail from Kazakhstan is easy to cover up. One from DC, not so much.
Question 2- Who wants to protect this guy? Which secret service officer is willing to put his body between the president-elect and a bullet?
Seriously, it’s more than a matter of not agreeing on philosophy. This is a guy who has no idea what the job entails and reportedly wants to spend most of his time at Trump Tower in NYC and not at the White House in DC because it’s not fancy enough.
So, do they have to vet everyone who lives in the building? All of the workers? Every passerby? Protestors?
Do they have to install bullet proof windows? A war room? Move shoes out of Melanie’s closet to make room for the nuclear football?
What will this cost?
And, when security fails and a member of the Trump family is accosted or god forbid injured, whose fault will it be?
Not Donald’s.
Never Donald’s fault.
That should go on the currency next to E Pluribus Unim.
